Walter breaks Buddy out of jail and, through a DNA test, discovers that Buddy is his son. They return home to meet the family and it’s awkward. But Buddy and his half-brother, Michael, become friends. Buddy even falls in love with Jovie. Meanwhile, Walter’s work is having problems and he needs to write a new book before Christmas Eve. But Buddy ruins a meeting and Walter gets angry and tells Buddy to leave.
Buddy sees Santa’s sleigh crash and finds the missing piece. He reunites with his family and they help Santa. They prove that Santa is real on live television. Buddy writes a book, Walter starts his own company, Buddy marries Jovie and they have a baby. Everyone finds happiness and Christmas is saved.
