Why isn’t Shrek on Disney Plus?
Shrek is not available on Disney Plus because it is not a Disney movie. The film was produced by DreamWorks Animation, a studio independent of Disney. The rights to Shrek are owned by Universal Pictures, a subsidiary of NBCUniversal, which operates its own streaming service called Peacock.

Shrek plot
Shrek is a story about an ogre named Shrek who loves his peaceful life in the swamp. However, his life is turned upside down when Lord Farquaad banishes fairy tale creatures to Shrek’s swamp. To take back his home, Shrek makes a deal with Farquaad: he will rescue Princess Fiona, whom Farquaad wants to marry to become king.
Shrek undertakes this mission with a talkative donkey named Donkey. Along the way, Shrek and Fiona fall in love, but Fiona has a secret: she turns into an ogre at night due to a curse. When Shrek misinterprets her words, Fiona agrees to marry Farquaad.
Eventually, Shrek realizes his mistake and rushes to stop the wedding. With the help of Donkey and Dragon, they save Fiona and Shrek confesses his love for her. Fiona’s curse is broken, but she remains an ogre. Shrek accepts her, they get married and live happily ever after.
