Sum 41 is a rock band from Canada, formed in 1996. The group’s core members include Deryck Whibley, Dave “Brownsound” Baksh, Jason “Cone” McCaslin, Tom Thacker and Frank Zummo. They signed a deal with Island Records in 1999 and released their first EP, “Half Hour of Power,” in 2000. Their debut album, “All Killer No Filler,” came out in 2001 and became a huge hit with the song “Fat Lip” reaching the top of the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart.
Other songs such as “In Too Deep” and “Motivation” were also popular. This album achieved platinum status in the United States and the United Kingdom, and triple platinum in Canada. Over the years, they released more albums such as “Does This Look Infected?” (2002) and “Chuck” (2004), both of which did well. His album “Underclass Hero” (2007) was his highest charting album. Later albums such as “Screaming Bloody Murder” (2011) and “13 Voices” (2016) continued his musical journey.
In 2019, “Order in Decline” came out and they are working on their eighth album, “Heaven and Hell.” In May 2023, they announced that this new album would be their last as they plan to disband after its release and a final world tour. Sum 41’s energetic live performances and music earned them nominations and awards, establishing them as a major Canadian rock band.
