Saw X had its theatrical release in the United States on September 29, 2023, thanks to Lionsgate Films. Originally scheduled for October 27, 2023, the release date was moved up after an announcement at San Diego Comic-Con. To promote the film, Lionsgate brought back the Saw Blood Drive, an event where people could donate blood to the American Red Cross in exchange for free tickets to the film’s opening weekend.
In a peculiar marketing move, on September 13, 2023, Lionsgate released a parody video inspired by an AMC Theaters commercial featuring Nicole Kidman. This parody featured a remote-controlled Billy the Puppet on a tricycle instead of Kidman, with a darker Saw-themed twist.
Although it generated humor and attention, AMC Theaters issued a cease and desist order, leading to the parody’s removal from Lionsgate’s accounts. Writer Josh Stolberg commented on its elimination, suggesting that those who had seen it were lucky. Despite its removal, the parody found its way to other channels not affiliated with Lionsgate.

Saw X plot
In Saw X, John Kramer, diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, witnesses a custodian steal from a patient. He imagines a gruesome trap in which the custodian must mutilate himself to avoid a horrible death, but returns the stolen items after seeing John. John then meets Henry Kessler, who claims to have been cured with an experimental Norwegian cancer treatment. John contacts Cecilia Pederson, the doctor’s daughter, and travels to Mexico for treatment.
Realizing that the entire operation was a scam, John takes matters into his own hands. He interrogates and catches Diego, deducing him as a fraud. John’s apprentice, Amanda Young, kidnaps Cecilia, Mateo, Valentina and Gabriela for the game of Jigsaw. The victims face horrific challenges that lead to their demise.
Cecilia turns out to be part of the scam and forces John into a deadly trap. When Parker arrives to recover the stolen money, a chain of events unfolds that locks Cecilia and Parker in a room with deadly gas. John tricks Cecilia into taking Parker to the facility to ensure his revenge.
Finally, John, Amanda and Carlos escape, while Cecilia remains imprisoned. In a chilling final scene, Henry wakes up in a trap bathroom overseen by John and Mark Hoffman.
