At first glance, one could easily rule out the possibility of restoring such a car to its former glory. However, Derek, armed with his unwavering determination and experience, saw it as a manageable task.
With painstaking attention to detail, he meticulously refurbished the tires, seats and engine, leaving no stone unturned in his quest to bring this once-iconic vehicle back to life. After countless hours of hard work, Derek’s perseverance paid off when the Mustang came to life, mirroring his 1960s performance.
Another notable restoration featured on Roadworthy Rescues centered on a 1951 Chevrolet Deluxe, a car that had languished in obscurity for 44 years. The passage of time had taken its toll on this Chevrolet, causing great deterioration.
However, Derek was undeterred by the challenge and demonstrated his remarkable skills by successfully reviving the vehicle, which was soon cruising the hills of Chattanooga with new vigor. For the complex task of repairing a 1966 Pontiac Tempest, Derek enlisted the help of his expert interior specialist, Dan, to assist in this rare automobile, which featured an overhead camshaft six-cylinder engine.
Returning to his roots, Derek decided to tackle the restoration of a 1979 Chevrolet K5 Blazer in the same shop where he began his apprenticeship. This Chevrolet had been sitting idle for two decades, deteriorating significantly during that time.
Along with his brother Sean, Derek embarked on the painstaking process of repairing its broken components, with the ultimate goal of ensuring it could effortlessly navigate the challenging terrain of South Dakota’s Black Hills.
