MTV EMA 2023 canceled
The MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA) scheduled for 2023 were canceled just over two weeks before their scheduled celebration on Sunday, November 5 in Paris. This is the first time the EMA event has been canceled since its inception in 1994. The cancellation was announced by Paramount due to what they described as the “volatility of world events.”
A company spokesperson stated that the decision was made out of an abundance of caution for the safety of the thousands of people involved in the event, including employees, crew members, artists, fans and partners who come from around the world to participate. The MTV EMAs are an annual celebration of global music, but in light of ongoing global events, especially in Israel and Gaza, it was deemed inappropriate to hold a global celebration at this time. The event is expected to return in November 2024.
Artists such as Jung Kook, The Kid LAROI, Sabrina Carpenter, Coi Leray and Rema were among those scheduled to perform at the event. The cancellation is a rare occurrence in the history of the MTV EMAs, but reflects the importance of recent world events on global events and celebrations.

The 2023 MTV EMAs were canceled on October 19, 2023. Initially, Paramount Global had planned to release tickets for the event on the same date.
