King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard is an Australian rock band that started in Melbourne in 2010. The band has six members: Stu Mackenzie, Ambrose Kenny-Smith, Cook Craig, Joey Walker, Lucas Harwood and Michael Cavanagh. They are known for making a lot of music in different styles and offering exciting live concerts.
At first they made music that mixed surf music and garage rock. They released their music on their own label called Flightless. In the early 2010s, they made psychedelic and progressive rock albums. Later, they tried many other types of music, such as jazz fusion and folk-inspired tunes.
In 2016, they became more famous with their award-winning album “Nonagon Infinity.” They also promised to release five albums in one year, starting with “Flying Microtonal Banana” in 2017. Their music began to include heavy metal, synth-pop and progressive rock, and they sang about the environment and a made-up world called the “Gizzverse.”
They work very hard and play many live shows, earning them recognition as some of the hardest working musicians in the world. Their latest album, “PetroDragonic Apocalypse”, came out in 2023.
