Chapter 234 of Kengan Omega tells us about Kaneda Suekichi’s past. He used to be a shy and weak child who was mistreated by his classmates and his father. Hatsumi invited Kaneda to his dojo and taught him Aikido, a martial art that uses the opponent’s strength. Inspired, Kaneda worked hard and learned different martial arts to improve.
He and Hatsumi became close friends. Kaneda even participated in underground fights known as Kengan fights. He earned the nickname “The Connector” for learning from different wrestlers. Kaneda had a crush on Hatsumi’s sister Rin, but she saw him as a friend and liked someone else. Although heartbroken, Kaneda accepted it and vowed to become stronger.
