The robbery turns disastrous and causes victims and betrayals. Kirby is arrested, Skip succumbs to heroin, and Cleon is arrested after betraying the group. Anthony, facing a harsh sentence despite his military service, explodes with anger in the courtroom. The film concludes with Anthony, now a convict, looking out a prison bus window, summarizing the tragic consequences of post-war struggles and the search for desperate decisions.
