Heartland is a Canadian television show about a family and their life on a horse ranch in the fictional town of Hudson, Alberta. The main characters are sisters Amy and Lou Fleming, their grandfather Jack Bartlett, and Ty Borden. Amy has a special ability to heal abused horses, which she inherited from her mother after a tragic accident.
The show premiered on CBC in Canada on October 14, 2007 and airs Sundays at 7 pm (7:30 pm in Newfoundland). In the United States, it airs on UpTV and was previously on The CW. It is also available internationally on Netflix, except Canada. Heartland became the longest-running one-hour scripted drama in Canadian television history on October 19, 2014.
As of November 19, 2023, 257 episodes have aired. The fourteenth season premiered in Canada on January 10, 2021 and then in the United States on UP’s Faith and Family streaming service on May 6, 2021. The fifteenth season began airing on March 17, 2022 on Up Faith & Family and later. on Up TV on May 19.
The show was renewed for a 15-episode season 16 and production began on June 1, 2022. It premiered in the fall in Canada and June 1, 2023 on Up Faith and Family, with a summer premiere on the channel main Up TV. in the US. The sixteenth season had a mid-season finale on Up Faith and Family, with episode 11 scheduled for September 21, 2023.
