Blood Flower Ending Explained

At the end of Blood Flower, the story reaches a gripping climax and reveals several shocking revelations. Iqbal, after discovering the demonic presence of Hantu Raya linked to a blood flower, devises a plan to confront and imprison the demon. Under the demon’s influence, Ah Boy attacks Norman, prompting Iqbal to intervene and save Ah Boy. He prepares for a confrontation with the demon, planning to lock him away and prevent him from accessing the real world.

Iqbal takes an animalistic approach as he approaches the blood flower in the greenhouse. Meanwhile, the possessed Iqbal discovers a crumpled piece of paper in a confidential room, sparking a tense confrontation with Norman, who pleads for the rescue of his son. The entity, with sinister intentions, criticizes Norman’s perceived weaknesses, including the loss of his wife and possible harm to his child.

In the end, Iqbal manages to free himself from the demon’s influence, revealing that Hantu Raya entered Jamil’s house through the blood flower of Sumatra. Surprisingly, it was Farah, speaking through Ah Boy’s possessed body, who wanted to return to his family’s house.

The story takes a dark turn when it is revealed that Jamil’s separation from his family is due to his disturbing and immoral relationship with his own daughter, Farah. Neglecting her during her pregnancy, he confined her to a room and realized that a malevolent spirit resided within her, driven by Hantu Raya’s search for a master.

Driven by suspicion and fear, Jamil committed a heinous act, which involved harming Farah and disposing of the baby’s remains on a blood-soaked wall. Upon his return, Jamil’s horrible secret is exposed, leading to his downfall. Instead, Iqbal embraces his supernatural abilities and continues to help others, vowing to confront and combat malevolent forces.

Blood Flowers Review

The film Blood Flower, which Shudder decided to feature, is the first Malaysian film they have chosen. It is a supernatural thriller also known as “Harum Malam” in Malay. The story revolves around Iqbal, a young man with a unique ability to see demons and supernatural beings, inherited from his mother Dina.

The film’s visuals and camera work are praised. In fact, cinematographer Jordan Wei Meng Chiam emerges as the unsung hero, stealing the show with his remarkable camera work. Chiam’s expertise lies in exploiting the claustrophobia inherent in the narrow hallways and rooms of the apartment building, effectively elevating the film’s atmosphere in even the most familiar settings. Chiam’s lens work weaves a compelling visual narrative.

The CGI also shows a mixed range of quality, with moments of effectiveness, particularly in the low-lit scenes where people are dragged against walls, in contrast to cases where a choppy, unpolished demonic character evokes memories of a poor stop-motion animation.

In Blood Flower, Jordan Wei Meng Chiam’s cinematography not only heightens the tension within the film, but also delivers memorable and disturbing visual experiences, despite the occasional fluctuations in the film’s CGI quality.
