Plot of the fall of the Black Hawk

In 1992, during a famine in Somalia caused by a civil war, the United Nations sent a military force to help keep the peace. But in 1993, there was a conflict between this UN force and a local militia led by Mohamed Farrah Aidid. President Clinton sent Task Force Ranger, which includes Army Rangers, Delta Force soldiers and helicopter crews, to capture Aidid. He has taken food from the Red Cross and declared himself president.

The mission begins when the Rangers and Delta Force capture some of Aidid’s top advisors. But during this, they come under heavy fire from the militia. A soldier named Todd Blackburn is seriously injured when he falls from a helicopter. He is sent back to safety and another soldier, John Grimes, is separated from his group.

Things get worse when two helicopters are shot down. One accident site is secured, but the other is too far away for help to arrive. Two Delta Force soldiers try to protect the second crash site, but are killed and the pilot is captured. The situation is difficult and efforts to reach trapped soldiers face roadblocks and intense enemy fire.

Finally, after a long night of fighting, relief comes and the wounded are evacuated. The closing titles explain that many Americans and Somalis were killed on this mission, prompting the withdrawal of American forces from Somalia.
