America has talent

“America’s Got Talent”, often abbreviated to AGT, is a popular American television talent competition. It is part of a global franchise created by Simon Cowell and produced by Fremantle USA and Syco Entertainment. The show airs on NBC and began on June 21, 2006. It was initially planned for the United Kingdom, but was discontinued due to a dispute, only to resume in 2007 after the success of the first season. Terry Crews is the current host.

AGT welcomes contestants from the US and beyond who have diverse talents such as singing, dancing, comedy, magic and more. Contestants aim to impress a panel of judges, including Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Sofía Vergara, to advance to the live episodes and ultimately the finale. The winner receives a cash prize and the opportunity to headline a show in Las Vegas.

The show is a hit, attracting around 10 million viewers per season. It’s so popular that it has even inspired books and spin-off contests, including “America’s Got Talent: The Champions,” “AGT: Extreme” and “America’s Got Talent: All-Stars.” The eighteenth season of the main series premiered in May 2023.
