In the alternate dimension of Adventure Time, the episode takes place with Fionna and Cake dedicating their efforts to helping Prince Gumball prepare for his opulent Gumball Ball at the castle. Their serene preparations take an unexpected turn when the Ice Queen launches a sudden attack. Fionna quickly confronts the Ice Queen, who accuses her of monopolizing all of her attractive individuals. To back up her claim, the Ice Queen uses her icy powers to summon a formidable sludge beast to attack Prince Gumball.
Reacting quickly, Fionna orders her loyal companion, Cake, to transform into morning star mode and defeat the sludge beast. The ensuing battle covers the room with snow, but Prince Gumball emerges unharmed and the Ice Queen mysteriously disappears. Deeply impressed by Fionna’s courage and beauty, Prince Gumball extends her an invitation for a date.
Returning to the Tree Fort, Fionna and Cake engage in an argument over the nature of Prince Gumball’s invitation. Cake convinces Fionna to accept the offer and, with Cake’s dulcimer in tow, the trio meet Prince Gumball in the Castle Gardens. Prince Gumball surprises Cake with catnip and Fionna with a bouquet of flowers, cleverly hiding a retractable Crystal Sword inside her, which amuses Fionna, known for her fondness for swords.
Their adventure begins as they race to reach Marshmallowy Meadows. Prince Gumball’s charm shines as he playfully interacts with Fionna during the race. Eventually, they find themselves beneath a field of flowers, where Prince Gumball poetically compares the sparkling pearls to the glow in Fionna’s eyes, deepening their connection.
